Rotamap 2017 March Event

Our Spring 2017 event took place at the Royal Society of Arts in central London on Friday 24 March 2017. The theme of the event was Improving Performance.

The event began with a welcome from Nico Katsouris who introduced the theme of the day and made the argument for the importance of situational awareness when working collaboratively. Next to present was Andy McFadden, Head Chef at the Michelin-starred Pied à Terre restaurant in London, who spoke about his approach to maintaining and building performance in his award-winning kitchen.

Andy was followed by Dr David Raw, Lead Clinician for Anaesthetics at Aintree University Hospital whose presentation dealt with improvement as a social pursuit, providing insights into how his department successfully manages change. During the afternoon session Dr Rosie Jones, Clinical Director for Women's Services at Royal Berkshire Hospital, discussed the differences in rota and service management between Anaesthetics and Women's Services.

Towards the end of the day members of the Rotamap team presented the latest benchmarking data for CLWRota and Medirota and showed new ways data can be used to provide insights to improve performance. Dr Mark Cox, Consultant Anaesthetist from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, contributed to the data presentation, giving a captivating presentation of the results of his recent study into anaesthetic trainee usage across the NHS of which he was part. Data for the study was derived from CLWRota.
